tax on income calculator
Interested to see what your annual, or even hourly pay, is after taxes and ACC work payments? This is the one for you. Most tax calculators only show your after tax income but don’t consider the ACC levy all employees must pay. This calculator shows exactly what you will receive in your pocket after all fees and taxes. There is also an option for you to check your income after KiwiSaver contributions have been taken out too. If you have a student loan, then check out the next calculator.
Here is the updated tax on income calculator from 1 Aug 2024, which also now includes options to enter different income levels and different KiwiSaver contributions to see the impact of different income variables.
Tax on income calculator (with student loan repayments)
Same as the previous calculator, updated for 2024, except it is applicable if you have a student loan. You can see how much your take home pay is after all deductions, including student loan repayments. You can also see how many months it will take for you to repay your student loan based on current level of income. The calculator also allows for up to 5 scenarios where you can play around with different income, loan and KiwiSaver contribution levels to see the impact these changes make on your student loan repayments and income.
income increase needed to keep up with inflation calculator
Many people incorrectly assume that your income needs to increase at the same rate as inflation or else you are losing money. This calculator shows how if you spend less than you earn, then you don’t need your income to increase by as much as inflation. A great hedge against inflation is your ability to save.
Pre tax income required calculator (for salary earners)
When my wife was looking for work on return from maternity leave, it was difficult to find out what pre tax income she needed. Most jobs only advertise pre tax income. But what we are interested in, and I assume most people care about, is what you earn after tax and KiwiSaver deductions. Money in the pocket.
I assume we aren’t the only ones that find that information useful, so I have built a calculator where you can enter how much you want to earn AFTER tax and KiwiSaver deductions. The calculator then tells you what you need your pre tax and pre KiwiSaver salary to be.
Pre tax income required calculator (For wage earners)
Same calculator as for salary earners except you can also see the pre tax and pre KiwiSaver hourly rate you need your income to be.
In addition, there is also an option to enter in your preferred hours worked per week (if different to your current hours). The calculator will then also show you what you need your pre tax pre KiwiSaver hourly income to be based on an increase or decrease of hours worked.
